Londontown

London, June 23, 2004

So I know I said I was leaving for Paris on Tuesday, and I was going to, really!  Except there were delays on the subway and one station was closed and it was a mess, trust me.  Needless to say, I missed the bus!  I really am having the worst luck!  But in the end, it all worked out, as I thought it would (I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason).  So I went back to my hostel and checked back in (2 hours after I checked out) and was put in the same room, so it was all good.  Spent the day with Fatima and Lily (from China, but is studying in Waterloo, Ontario).  I went to see Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, London Bridge and then to the National Gallery to look at the amazing paintings.  I went to see Chicago (the musical) and it was really good.  It was interesting to see the differences between the film version and the theater version.  I walked by a movie premiere in Leicester Square on the way to the theater: Around the World in 80 Days.  I only stayed for a few minutes and the only person we saw was an Asian actress, who apparently is famous, but I have no idea who she is.  I came back to the hostel and hung out in the common room with Isabelle (Quebec) until 1am.  I got up this morning and made some new friends: a girl from Colorado and Jen from Australia.  Then I went to the Victoria and Albert museum for a Vivienne Westwood exhibit (she’s a famous British designer), it was very cool!  And so now here I am.  Tonight I will probably hang out and party in the common room again, and tomorrow morning I will be leaving for Paris hopefully!  I will be leaving much, much earlier this time just to be sure, I’m not missing it again!  Okay, so next time you hear from me, I will hopefully be in Paris.
